wisdom in 96

Every other Tuesday, I clean for an elderly man named Vince.
he is 96 years old.
I think he may live to be 100.

Every Tuesday when we arrive he gives me a big hug.
There is nothing like a hug from an elderly, 96 year old.
It feels different then a hug from just a regular old person for some reason.

And every other Tuesday I ask him:
"How are you doing today Vince?"
and he responds with "Not too bad for an old guy like myself!"

It makes me smile everytime.

His wisdom and view on the world is like no others.
His stories and the things he has witnessed are like no other.
He is a jolly old guy that has not let the world make him bitter.
Infact he is exactly the opposite.
Which I think is why he has lived so long.
His heart is pure and good, and his mind is still sharp and clear.

Recently I went to his house and had some life struggles on my mind.
I shared with him what was on my heart briefly and then he looked at me and said
"Well, Im just an old guy that has alot of time to listen! so go ahead... tell me whats on your mind"
And so I did.
I shared with him what was going on in my life... and he gave me some of the best advice.
Because he is so wise.

 I look forward to every other Tuesday when I get to see him.
I always wonder what it will be like the day the Lord decides to bring him home.
I will forever miss his talks and hugs.
For now, I look forward to the next Tuesday when I get to see him again.
and get my hug. :)

The Fair

today was dynamic!
so dynamic that I almost wet myself.

My sister-in-law is here visiting. AND when she is visiting, we laugh alot.
She is maybe one of the funniest people I know.
Actually, I think she IS one of the funniest people I know.

We went to the fair and had a great day.
The fair is EXACTLY the same thing every year {except the dog barn was different this year}         . It never changes. Thats why I like it I think.
I dont like change too much.
The people watching is spectacular.
The moms always look alittle stressed.
The kids are always so darn excited, until they are jacked up on cotton candy and their head is spinning in circles.
and the outfits?! Oh, the outfits.

I was kind of a mean mom this year, and with funds being limited I told the kids they could go on one ride or use that money for a special snack at the fair.
One chose a ride.
The other chose an funnel cake. {that I ate most of}

All and all, it was a dynamic day.

Lover Boy

today is a dynamic day.
OFCOURSE!

But today at "the dynamic house of Trisha Love" we will be doing some filming for tomorrow's VLOG.
With Mr. Lover boy.{my handsome husband}
You see, he is my guest blogger this week. :)

It is our 17th year wedding anniversary this weekend.
and I thought it only made sense that he was the GUEST for the week. duh!

17 years is a really, really, long time.
Like 6,209 days a long time.
204 months a long time.
and Mr. Lover boy has survived until now.

Last year me and Mr. Lover Boy had a rough year.
This year it is better.
Although life is always dynamic, it is sometimes hard.
Marriage is hard.
Life is hard.

Today will be filming day with Mr. Lover boy and I think I will have to buy him lots of beer. and wine. because he doesnt like cameras at all.
He will get home from work and I will give him a kiss and a beer and then more beer.

Tomorrow I will post our very dynamic VLOG post with me and Lover boy if he survives it today!
are you ready?! :)

Tuesday is garbage day, again.

today at the dynamic house of trisha love its Tuesday.
Which is garbage day again.

last week on garbage day I woke up to hear the garbage truck coming.
Looked outside and saw the hubsters had forgot to put the cans out.
Then I ran outside in my underwear and t-shirt.
My garbage man has seen lots of angry women in the morning, in thier underwear, cursing thier husbands,  Im pretty sure.

But today the cans were out early. I put them out lastnight.
Today the garbage man is going to be really mad. For alot of reasons.
  1. my garbage can still has some dried up maggots on it.
  2. it smells really bad.
  3. It weighs a gazillion pounds.
  4. and he doesnt get to see me in my underwear.
because I was purging this week, my can is super full. The recycle bin is so full that there is recycle all over the street next to the garbage can and yes, I even put a few non-recycle things in there {like maybe some evil plastic of sorts.}

yesterday I cleaned out my fridge and freezer and pantry and had 5 bags of garbage. {children in Africa, please forgive me.} That garbage is sitting in the garage and is waiting for.... what is it waiting for? Im not sure. The Hubsters is going to have to decide what to do with that.

I've come to the conclusion that garbage is icky.
If you have garbage in your heart, you are icky.
Garbage in your spiritual life, you are icky.
Garbage in your friendships, they are icky.
Families are full of garbage, and it can be icky.
Throwing out garbage and realizing that it smells and is not good for you, is GOOD.
It cleanses the soul. Makes you feel renewed and gives you hope. For better days. Better relationships. Better hearts and spiritual lives. Better families, and it makes room for better things to be able to fill you up instead.

I love garbage day.
maybe I will just run outside in my underwear for no reason at all. :)

Operation Pantry Re-organize

As some of you may know... I am not into food.

Nope. In fact, food is just a necessity for me. If it wasn't required for my body to survive, I may never eat. Children come to my house and leave hungry {ask my best friend Amber}.
Don't get me wrong, we have food, but its food that is maybe not part of the food groups, like Hershey bars and Doritos's, cupcakes and ice cream.
{we do have bananas all the time, potassium is important, right?}
My pantry is a disaster zone, well, sorta like my life has been.

OPERATION house makeover is under way at the dynamic house of Trisha love.
AND part of that is going to be my food situation.
My pantry situation.
My fridge situation.

My Pantry is Scary.
Like food dripping out of containers and cereal all over the floor Scary.

So, today I completely re-did my pantry.
I took everything out, and moved all the food to different places.
I organized my cans.
I organized my spices.
My flour, sugar, oatmeal, etc. is all organized.
My pantry looks beautiful.
I wish I had a before picture but I don't.
I hope that Mr. Love Boy is going to be excited that I actually did something today. Usually I just PIN things to do all day... today I actually did it.
Maybe Mr. Love Boy will bring me more Starbucks and chocolate donuts now.
Maybe Mr. Love Boy is going to expect dinner now?
OH NO!

High School best friend.

Today is Sunday.
I love Sundays because they are usually the day I rest.
Well, as much "rest" as a mom can get I guess.

On Sunday we try to go out to breakfast as a family at our favorite place, the Sultan Bakery, where we have gone for 16 years, in fact, when I was just 17 years old I worked there. I would eat all the chocolate donuts and drink coffee.
{I was a great employee.}

But today, on this Sunday, I had a very exciting date. With my best friend from High School. She and I were partners in crime, the kind of best friends that could be together for 10 days straight and not get sick of each other. We would do some pretty crazy things like:
  • Drive at speeds of 80mph and get pulled over, and then have to come up with a good story that we were in a high speed chase because someone was chasing us. {and they believed us}
  • Get in a car accident, while driving 80mph, not see a corner, and crash into 2 cars which caused the cars to crash into a garage. {her dad owned an auto body shop, thank goodness!}
  • Eat Hootowl burritos for lunch everyday.
  • Sit at Dennys and smoke cigarettes. {my double D boobs came in handy when you are underage and want to buy cigarettes.}
  • Skip School.
  • Sneak in after being late on curfew.
  • and cruise around at night looking for boys.

We were the best of friends.
Life got in the way and we lost contact. We didn't really talk or see each other for almost 11 years until today.
You know you are best friends when after 11 years you see each other and it is as if you never had skipped a beat. I hugged her today and I felt as if I had just seen her yesterday.
We had lunch and reminisced about old times.
We laughed alot.
We picked up right where we left off.
And then promised eachother that we would never let 11 years go by again without seeing eachother again. ever.

OPERATION HOUSE makeover

Today is saturday. I love Saturday mornings. This Saturday morning I woke up at 7 am and my husband was missing. he was gone. I wasnt sure if maybe he just decided I was a hoarder and there was no hope for me, and left me for good. Instead I found out that he had gone to breakfast with a buddy, and then stopped and got me Starbucks and chocolate donuts. Sometimes that guy comes in handy :) I am looking forward to OPERATION house makeover. Its sorta like Extreme Home Makeover,{the one that used to be on TV} except I really need TY Pennington to be here without his shirt on... I'm pretty sure he and I would get along and be able to do amazing things together.
This is what I looked like all week. Next OPERATION is my closet. I got rid of ALOT of clothes {4 garbage bags to be exact} and now I need to organize what I have left. I will be sure to BLOG or maybe even VLOG the OPERATION... and you all will never look at me the same, I promise. Cheers to no clutter... :)

today I am getting ready for my yard sale. The "dynamic house of Trisha Love" is is shambles. No, Im not selling my cheerleading outfit even though I am getting rid of everything else! My house looks like a bomb went off in it. There is crap on every surface and the floor is covered too. In my cookie cutter neighborhood, I think you are only supposed to have a yard sale when they "allow" it, twice a year. But, Im a rebel. Tomorrow the flood gates will open and hopefully everyone that comes is looking for more plastic army guys, because we have ALOT of those! Cheers to purging. Man, it feels good.

The Topic: Cheerleaders, dont judge!

today on the VLOG: The Topic: High School and awesome cheerleaders! My guest: the best friend, Amber Strehle- maybe not in high school! Go check out her blog! She is a funny one! www.breeder74.blogspot.com and a kick ass photographer www.tresbirdsphotography.com

Wednesday

today is hump day...
get your mind out of the dirty drain.... sheeshh.

Wednesday's are somewhat of a pain. Because you know the week is half over and you know that this is when your week really starts to take draaaag on. Sorta like watching water boil, but different.

On Wednesday's in the "dynamic household of Trisha Love" I like to clean bathrooms.
{but honestly, I haven't done that for along time because lately I have been slack-a-lackin'}
I also clean for my neighbor on Wed, and I get super jealous because I go to her house and she doesn't have children, or pets, or dirty bedrooms, there is no Mt. Wash me and Mt. Fold me, or stains on her carpets..she also has a FULL candy jar full of chocolate {if I had that it would be gone in a new york second!}because they don't have any kids living at home anymore {and then I remember that in 7 short years I wont have any kids at home either!fingers and toes crossed that they are college bound, out of state, really far away at Stanford or Harvard!}
small tidbit: She also cooks dinner for her husband... that must be nice for him. My husband is super jealous because I havent done that lately much either! slackin'}

Today, on this Wednesday, I think I will clean the bathrooms for sure.
Mostly because lastnight we had a guest over at our house, and she went in to take a shower.

All of a sudden I remembered that I had sprinkled an entire can of COMET into that shower/bath days ago,  added a little bit of water, in hopes to:
a) get the dirty scum off the sides and b) because the drain had been clogged with hair for months, I thought maybe that comet would do the job, but it didn't.

Instead our sweet little guest , who was trying to enjoy her shower {who is 13} was up, past her shin bones in green comet water when we knocked on the door to tell her the bad news. She opened the door with shampoo still in her hair and wrapped in a towel. soaking wet and bewildered.
we laughed really hard and then I went in to tackle the comet water that would not drain. {my poor guest had white powdery feet now} I took a handy dandy toothy comby thingy{this is not the technical term for this tool}and unclogged the drain of a clump of hair the size of my head. wow, that was easier than I thought!
{I told you my life is dynamic!}

Tuesday is garbage day

Today is Tuesday.
That is garbage day in my cookie cutter neighborhood.
Last week on garbage day my son went out to put something in the garbage can on the curb and it was full of maggots. Not just a few either.. it was the biggest clump of maggots I have ever seen. Then he puked on the sidewalk and ran in the house. I thought about letting the dog just go out and lap it up, because thats what 3 kids does to you, but I went to ALL the work and grabbed the hose instead.
Somedays are so awesome being a mom.

I love the feeling of things getting purged.
Purging garbage and all the unnecessary STUFF is good for a soul.
Feels clean and fresh and maggot free.

This week I am cleaning out my closets, drawers, my garage {gasspp!} and getting rid of the clutter in my life. It feels soo great. I have decided that my closet is a little excessive with clothes. I dont wear most of them, and to celebrate getting rid of 12 pairs of pants, I went to the store and bought a red pair of party pants. Yah... a great pair of party pants that I can wear to the next fun party I go to, and everyone will know that I am ready to celebrate! {dancing in red pants.. oww oww! imagine it!}

I also have been purging things in my heart. Letting go of certain garbage that I hold in there, and cleaning it out. IT feels good to clean out your heart once in awhile.

I will be having a yard sale this weekend at my yellow jacket house {it is yellow and black and looks like a yellow jacket} and I am really looking forward to getting rid of everything. I have all sorts of odds and ends and treasures and then just some plain ol' junk. And the kids will sell ice cream sandwiches and we will hopefully make some money for new school clothes and more party pants.
I will be sure to post pictures for you to all see.

today I learned {ok, technically yesterday}

So, if you know me..
.#1:  you are one LUCKY DUCKY.

{#aluckyduckyissomethingthatisreallyspecial}

But not only THAT.
#2:You also know that I do a "today I learned".

These are random little things that I take in all day and decide that they teach me a little something. Something that maybe if I wasn't paying extra super de duper attention I may over look.
Sometimes they are things that are pretty "captain obvious" if you know what I mean... but other times they are just plain EYE opening things that make me go Hmmmm....

So, to keep you waiting NO more, I shall write my very first "today I learned" post on the DYNAMIC life of Trisha Love blog: {that was just birthed and hopefully will be something that you find extra de duper fantasical and you will become a follower of RIGHT now}

{by the time you read this it will actually be yesterday, but lets just play pretend}

today I learned...
  • Laying in bed with a towel wrapped around your neck, because you have a really bad KINK {that has lasted for days} is handy and convenient because when you try to drink a sip of coffee from you new Starbucks tumbler while laying down, you have a towel to wipe your face when it is spilling down your face. GENIUS!
  • Ibuprofen is a drug that only a mom can appreciate. Yes, you know we all have it in the 911 kit for children because it comes in chewable bubble gum flavor for kids, and adults can technically take 3 or 4 {or 6} without dying. If Ibuprofen was never invented I probably would only have 1 kid and get a sex change once a month.
  • Mexican food is the bomb, and where else can you order a plate of super nachos that feeds 3 kids for $6.99 and a Cadillac margarita for the mom that has a super bad kink in her neck and needs to relax a bit.
  • My husband has officially given up on me making dinner this month.
  • 5 years=60 months. and that is not very long at all.
  • The Olympics are over. {never watched more than 5 min. of them}
  • and the new VP pick for Mitt Romney supposedly had a smokin' hot 6 pack under that button down. WHO knew? {TMZ reported, seriously what would the world do without TMZ?} I hate to admit Im totally shallow, but I can't help vote for Sexy to come to the white house! Imagine that hot bod running without his shirt off!? Just sayin'....
and that my friends is what I learned today:) Come back for more! :)

THE THOUGHT of the DAY:

"Do more of what makes you happy."

I may do a few things today.
  • dance in the kitchen
  • go fly a kite
  • Starbucks
  • duct tape all the children to a chair {jokes!}
what will you do today that makes you Happy?

alittle narcissism.

So, lets grab a cup of coffee and talk about me!
Yep, you guessed, ANOTHER blog.
Ok, its been a rough road for me in the blogger world.
I have tried over and over to do this blogging business. It just never pans out for me.

Yes, I am not perfect. I used to strive for that. Now I just strive to be a hot mess all the time, and then I dont disappoint anyone! Note to all the over achiever women out there: Just set your standards low for your self and boy oh boy, does it make life alot easier! :)  Dont compare yourself to anyone else because everyone else has different god given strengths. AND embrace your self.

I just turned 34 this year and I have come to alot of realizations.
I am still learning ALOT about myself.
I dont think that anyone ever really stops learning about themselves, ever.
AND life is so funny, isnt it?

I started this VLOG/BLOG because this is the more "me" side of life.
Yes, I am a wanna be photographer- I have a blog for that, and a facebook page that gets maybe 2 hits a day.
Yes, I am a crafty/junker/decorator and I have a facebook page for that too.

But this blog is just about my true self. The things I think about, want to talk about, funny life tidbits, my famous "learned todays" and the life I live. WHY do YOU care? Maybe you dont!
Thats ok:)

Here is my very first VLOG post.
{I was sooo nervous}. I hate my voice, even though I know thats what I sound like. Now I know why everyone in my family is all walking around with ear phones in their ears.
My daughter, who is uber chill and doesnt really seem all that interested was my guest for this one.
I will attempt to have a new guest each week, until I run out of friends, but I am excited for you to meet all my peeps!

So, all I can say for now, is BYE. :)
